'Secrets,' Debbie Reynolds, plenty of great dancing on 'So You Think' You Can Dance'
Debbie Reynolds is the guest judge for a very important show.
Two couples will be sent home Thursday night because the judges didn't send home any couples last week in an unprecedented move. In an attempt to balance out the looming double elimination, we learn secrets about each of the dancers. (As usually, the "secrets" are kind of lame.)
First, we learn that Ricky's real name is Roderick and Ryan's leg hair grows fast.
The two dance to a Mandy Moore jazz routine. They dance to "Addicted To Love" by Robert Palmer.
They dance really clean. The routine isn't as sexy as I thought it was going to be.Judge Nigel Lythgoe says it is "sensational." He adds that he wanted to throw a bucket of water on them. Judge Mary Murphy says she is "addicted" to the two of them. She says Ryan turned into a "warrior vixen." Ricky was in character the whole way, according to Mary. Debbie says she hasn't seen anyone dance sexier.
Caitlynn and Mitchell are next. Her secret is that her feet turn colors because of her boots. Mitchell likes to wear a zebra print snuggie. I can't understand Mitchell's butchered English during the behind the scenes footage.
The pair dance a Stacey Tookey contemporary routine to "Turning Tables" by Adele. The routine is choreographed around a living room set. The lights are dimmed to blue. It's very passionate, but seems kind of forced. Mitchell accidentally hits Caitlynn in face during the routine. The only reason we know is because she's bleeding from the nose following the performance. The chemistry between the two dancers is so believable, Mary says. She calls the performance flawless. Debbie says they were so beautiful. Nigel says he's glad Mitchell is healthy. "I thought it was outstandingly danced by you two," he adds.

Diddy Puts $13.5 Million Family Home on Real Estate Market

According to the New York Post, the hip-hop mogul's real estate broker has confirmed that the 17,000 square foot, seven-bedroom Colonial-style family home was put on the market for $13.5 million Tuesday (June 29). Situated on three acres, with a six-car garage, swimming pool with waterfall, hot tub, putting green and tennis court, the 26-room home also features a home theater, gym and indoor squash court.
Diddy bought the Alpine, N.J. home for his longtime girlfriend Kim Porter and their son Christian back in 2004, for a paltry $6 million, but has opted to sell the property now that the couple, who had twin daughters in 2006, but broke up in 2007, are both "spending more time in Los Angeles," according to the Post's source.

Julia Roberts & Tom Hanks Premiere ?Larry Crowne? in LA
They?re both massive movie stars in their own right, and earlier tonight (June 27) Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks were in the house to premiere their new flick ?Larry Crowne.? The ?Pretty Woman? babe and the ?Terminal? hunk showed up at Grauman?s Chinese Theatre to greet fans and press and to promote the soon-to-be-released movie With Hanks helmeted up while arriving at Grauman's on a sporty little scooter, the 54-year-old actor then joined alongside co-star/wife Rita Wilson and Miss Roberts, with other stars on-hand including Jenna Elfman and fellow castmate Taraji P.Henson. Due to hit theaters nationwide this Friday, July 1st, ?Larry Crowne? certainly promises to be one of the summer?s premiere film events. 'The Killing' Recap - Orpheus Descending
"Hey, Jamie, if you see the po-po, let me know."
The theme of the night was "red herrings," and here were all the stinky fish:
Councilman Orpheus: I kind of love the title of this episode, "Orpheus Descending," because it alludes to both the Greek myth about a man who went down to Hades to earn back his wife and the total destruction of the man who used the name "Orpheus" as his Beau Soleil handle. And by the end of the episode, Orpheus was most certainly descending, as in "going down."
We all knew Richmond wouldn't be the killer, right? I mean, that would've been too easy. They caught him too quickly. Linden put a tail on him so he couldn't escape. Catching Richmond was like shooting fish in a barrel. Town's the fish, Richmond's the barrel. Fish in a barrel. (Sorry, Tommy Boy reference.)
So, who else was on our Rosie Killer Radar?
Suspect #1: Gwen, AKA Richmond's latest in a string of sexytime aides (though, the only non-brunette one, so she's special): Gwen spent the entire episode in some combination of standing in the shadows, crying, or looking suspicious. Murderer! Except not. At the moment, she just seems like a jilted lover and a disappointed political wonk. But nothing on this show is ever as it seems, is it? We've learned our lesson the hard way.
Suspect #2: Belko: I got a little rush of excitement when Belko showed up on screen holding a gun. OMG, was I totally just about to be right about my very first Rosie killer suspect? Nope. Belko just grabbed that gun to do some councilman hunting.
The Real Deal
None of the above people was the killer. And none of the above was the unseen person driving the getaway car into which our (my?) beloved Holder stepped as he said, "The photo worked. He's going down (descending, Orpheus-style)."
So, I'm working hard to get over the heartbreak and the total what-the-frakkery of the honchos at The Killing turning the most likable character on this entire show into an accomplice to Rosie's murder (I refuse to believe he actually killed her. Not my Holder!!!)
So let's focus on who could be in the driver's seat, shall we?
Definitely NOT driving (because the camera cut to them in "real" time as Holder entered the car): Linden and Jack (on the plane); Terri, Stan, and the boys (in the Larsen home); Belko and Jamie and Gwen.
Presumably NOT driving (though we can't know for sure): Mitch (because she's Rosie's mom), Bennet (because he's hooked up to life support), Chrissy Seaver (because she's eleventy months pregnant)
The Top Suspects: Billionaire Assfedora, Murderous Fiance, Jack's dad, Mayor Sucks-a-Lot, Gwen's dad who plays a bad guy in every show, Richmond's old lover/aid named Meg whom we just met in this very episode, Jasper, Jasper's dad
Non-Top Suspects (i.e. the people we REALLY should be paying attention to, because that's how this show rolls): Regi, Belko's mom, Holder's "sponsor," Sterling, Holder's sister, Jack's friend's mom, the ICU nurse in charge of Bennett's care, the girl Bennett saved from genital mutilation, Murderous Fiance's sexytime assisstant, Mitch's mom and dad, the guy who ran the gas station where "Richmond" stopped to fill up, Linden's secret evil twin sister
Where are you with all this? Are you crushed that HOLDER, our Holder, has been playing Linden all this time, just when we (I) had such high hopes for her ditching Murderous Fiance for her bad boy (in the best sense of the term) partner? Are you so peeved at the ending that you will not be tuning in for the next season of The Killing? Or did you really love how it all played out?

Generally speaking, I draw my vintage fashion line right around 1960. There is much to like, admire and adopt from the decade of revolution, rock and roll, and free love, but usually the fashions of the swinging sixties are not my cup of tea. Indeed, if more looks from the sixties had been this enchantingly pretty, perhaps I'd have to rethink my sartorial cut-off date and start delving into the iconic looks that helped define one of the most impactful decades of the twentieth century.
For the time being though, I'm happy just to daydream about this sparkling gem of a floral patterned summer dress magically hanging in my closet, ready to be worn any time I needed a vibrant dose of 1960s wardrobe cheer to brighten my day.

Twiggy Says No To Animal Cruelty

British modeling legend Twiggy is the latest star to make a stand against UK store Fortnum & Mason’s decision to keep selling foie gras in the face of international condemnation.
The iconic model has written a letter to the store’s managing director, Beverly Aspinall, urging her to stop stocking the product, which is a p�t� made from the livers of ducks and geese. Twiggy is campaigning against the cruel way producers fatten the livers ? up to two kilograms of mash are pumped into the birds’ stomachs through a pipe two or three times a day. The pipes sometimes puncture the birds’ throats, causing the animals to bleed to death. Last week, The Mentalist star Owain Yeoman also protested against the store’s continued stocking of the product.
“I find it shocking that Fortnum & Mason would sell the horribly cruel product of goose torture known as foie gras,” writes Twiggy. "A product so barbaric that its production is banned in the UK and in more than a dozen other countries. Anyone who has watched PETA's undercover footage of geese and ducks as they are force-fed several times a day via a pipe until their livers swell to many times their normal size cannot fail to be appalled. Foie gras has no place on British store shelves or menus, let alone in a shop that so blatantly trades on its British heritage.
“Times, fashions and tastes change. Other iconic British shops with food halls, such as Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, have listened to their customers and now realise that selling foie gras is a faux pas. Please, please, remove this cruel product from your shelves.”
Stores such as Harvey Nichols and Selfridges stopped sales of Foie Gras following protests from Roger Moore and Phil Collins.

Women's casual footwear styles from the summer of 1959
? Day 158 of Vintage 365 ?
There is much to be said in favour of a stunning pair of heels, chicer than the day is long, exquisitely tailored and, as is so often the case with gorgeous footwear, lip-bitingly painful to wear after about thirty seconds.
Like many a vintage fashionista, I've paid my dues when it comes to logging scores of days in such shoes, however there's no rule (despite what shows like Sex in the City might have you believe) that says footwear needs to be painful to lovely or functional.
While it's jolly fun to imagine yesteryear women sashaying around town in Dior heels all the live long day, reality is that most women (perhaps even more so in the 40s and 50s then now) had a shoe wardrobe that included a good mix of practical styles, as well as shoe-stopping pairs.
In the former category, back during the summer of 1959, one could easily have found numerous pairs to love - and adorn their feet with - amongst the styles up for offer in this cheerful page from that season's Montgomery Ward catalog.
These styles - each of which could easily have been plucked from a modern day shoe store - are a testament to the fact that summertime footwear can definitely be both easy on the soles and wonderfully fashionable at the same time.
From a darling floral print kitten heel (if you don't already own a pair, I highly suggest investing in some kitten heels, they're often very easy to wear and walk in for hours on end) to chambray blue t-strap flats, fiery lipstick red slip-on deck style shoes to zigzag print wedges, all of the styles on this page would have been highly versatile choices for the fashionable woman of the late 1950s.
And nothing has changed in that regard over the last six decades. Each of these looks is still a smart buy, cheery style, and delightful way to get a lot of mileage out of your summertime shoes.
Turn to images like this great old school catalog page (which hails from Flickr user CapricornOneVintage) the next time you head out to do some vintage shoe shopping and you're bound to come home with the kind of winning styles that will look every bit as lovely today as they did in 1959.
