Orlando Bloom Reprises Role For The Hobbit. Films Get Official Titles And Release Dates

It�s official! Orlando Bloom is set to reprise his Lord Of The Rings role as Legolas the elf for the upcoming The Hobbit movies!

Back for more bow and arrow action

Director Peter Jackson confirmed the actor�s involvement on his Facebook page saying: �Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character�. I�m excited to announce today that we�ll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more.�

But that�s not all the good news we are receiving of the much-anticipated two-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien�s The Hobbit. New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM have also announced that the films are being called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There And Back Again, due for release across the U.S. on 14 December 2012 and 13 December 2013 respectively.

In the press release, it was also noted that both films will be set in Middle Earth 60 years before LOTR, with Martin Freeman taking the central role as Bilbo Baggins. Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey while cast members Cate Blanchett,  Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis too, will reprise their respective characters.
