Spread the Love: The Pink Swan Project

I'm starting a new column on M+M called Spread the Love. There's a trend in many new businesses in the past few years; many of them are building "giving back" right into their business model. It's something that I truly admire, and it makes me proud to be a part of a generation that cares about giving back. I want to be a part of that movement in any way I can, so on M+M I'm going to spread the word about companies that are spreading the love. It's important to give back in any way you can. What do you do to spread the love?

Design showroom SUITE New York has asked some of the worlds top designers to recreate this mid-century modern Swan chair for The Pink Swan Project. The project benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through 19 custom designed Swan chairs that will be auctioned on charitybuzz.com October 1-31, 2011.

If I was the type of person that was invited to these types of events because I had loads of money to buy chairs for a good cause, I'd be bidding my left arm on Windsor Smith's chair (above). So gorgeous!
I was inspired by Madonna's corset as a symbol of empowerment for women who are battling breast cancer. The rosy colored base represents a positive outlook for the strong woman who I envision sitting in this chair. ?Windsor Smith

Other favorites were done by Margherita Maccapani Missoni and Madeline Weinrib.
